It’s Always Good TO Speak Of Martin Luther King Jr’s Other Speech About Money and Equality

Everyone Always talks about Martin Luther King ” I have a dream speech” and that’s all good.
as i love that speech but  most people and especially he media never address DR  Martin’s  speech
and his aggressive position of EQUAL ECONOMICS…To be equal we have to have equal economics facts.
The melanin people of the world need to control their economics….Racists people or covert racists speak of equality
but when it comes to equal economics they try to stop or undermine the necessity fo equal economics.

Curls in the Bahamas

culrsthumb2
Hey Sistas! If you follow us on Instagram, you probably saw photos of me living my best life in the Bahamas last month with CURLS. Curls is one of our favorite curly hair product lines, so I was really happy when they selected us, along with 17 other amazing natural hair enthusiasts, to participate in an unforgettable trip. Not only did we get to enjoy the beautiful Bahamian water, we also got a chance to volunteer and give back to some young Bahamian ladies. Mahisha Dellinger, the amazing founder of Curls, organized a great retreat that I’m so excited to share with you!

The trip started with an early morning flight from Houston to Nassau. I kept my hair simple by wearing it in two strand twists while traveling on the plane and I wore it in a Twist Out throughout the duration of my trip. I twisted my hair using Curls Blueberry Bliss Twist-n-Shout Cream. I love this cream because it works really well, it’s vegan and it also smells wonderful.

When we arrived at the lovely Warwick hotel, we were greeted by the lovely Curls team and received a nice welcome drink before heading to our room. The Warwick hotel was the perfect place for our trip! The staff is extremely friendly and the rooms are beautiful and comfortable.

Later in the evening, we all met downstairs for the Welcome Dinner where I got the chance to meet all of the lovely ladies who were handpicked by Mahisha to participate in this amazing retreat.

During dinner, we listened to Mahisha give a truly inspiring speech detailing her journey of how she went from the projects to having an extremely successful company. She also introduced us to her organization, Curls Girls Rule the World, and shared why she felt it was important to create a way for her to give back and provide other young brown girls the tools, resources and confidence to realize their dreams no matter where they come from.

The next day, we were granted the opportunity to work with young Bahamian girls as part of the program Mahisha told us about the night before, Curls Girls Rule the World. We helped them build their vision boards after Mahisha gave a very powerful speech about having a dream and overcoming obstacles. This whole experience was extremely rewarding, special, and motivational.

Day 3 included a boat trip to Exuma, a small island about 1 ½ hours away from Nassau. At the first stop we fed grapes to the iguanas on the island. We also stopped at a small sand strip where we got to relax, feed sharks, and go snorkeling.

Curls

Other activities included a pool party where we got to lounge around, dance and just enjoy the beautiful Bahamian weather. Mahisha also shared her exciting new business venture with us, VitaPop popcorn, a healthy vegan friendly snack. We were even able to taste it!

The Curls Bahamas Retreat was an experience I will never forget. I had an amazing time with some of the most influential natural hair enthusiasts on social media. I am so grateful I was a part of this opportunity that celebrated women of color with a variety of natural hair textures and appreciate Mahisha and Curls for organizing such an amazing trip.

This post is sponsored by Curls. All opinions are our own.

XOXO,
Toni
